The International Association for Applied Corneotherapy (I.A.C.) recognises that parts of dermatological history, including work associated with Albert Kligman (widely credited with coining the term Corneotherapy), took place at a time when ethical standards did not reflect those expected today.
This includes practices now recognised as unethical, such as non-informed consensual testing on vulnerable populations. The IAC does not endorse or support these actions.
While this history forms part of the broader development of skin science, our focus is firmly on the advancement of modern corneotherapy. Over the past 60 years, the field has evolved through the contributions of many researchers and clinicians, with developments in corneobiology and histology shaping current understanding.
The IAC is committed to promoting ethical, evidence-based practice, grounded in skin function, integrity and a progressive approach to long-term skin health.
